Dangerous Goods Shipping Containers

A purpose-built DG store is a different product to a general purpose container with a vent cut in it, and the difference matters the day somebody from the regulator walks onto your site.

What you get

  • Bunded floor sized to contain a spill rather than let it run out the door
  • Cross-flow ventilation appropriate to the class being stored
  • Signage, shelving and separation to suit the goods
  • Available for sale and for hire — hire suits a project with a defined end date
  • Tell us the class and the volume and we will tell you what you actually need

The detail worth knowing

The two questions that decide everything are what class of goods you are storing and how much of it. Class 3 flammable liquids in a shed-sized volume is a very different build to a small quantity of Class 8 corrosives, and getting a quote without answering those two is not really getting a quote.

Bunding is the part people skip. A DG store's floor is built as a sealed tray with enough capacity to hold a defined proportion of what is inside it. A drainage hole drilled in a standard container is not bunding, and it will not pass an inspection.

Placement matters as much as the box. Separation distances from boundaries, buildings, ignition sources and site access all come out of the relevant standard and your local requirements. We will not pretend to be your safety adviser — but we will not sell you a unit that obviously cannot be placed legally either.
